Wow, I really enjoyed listening to all of this historical information about The Black Horse and Mendham. This was really a well thoughtout and creative production!

I especially loved hearing KATHLEEN REHM’S voice providing such great detailed historical information along with her own personal experiences.

KATHLEEN really represents the

“heart and soul” of The Black Horse.

My family has been going to Mendham and The Black Horse for several decades now and it has become an integral part of our family history to!

Such wonderful memories !

Dear Ryan and Katie,

Love the podcasts. Love History and Ryan's sense of humor.

Feel free to do a series on Madison, N.J. My home town.

Every episode you use a vocabulary word I have to look up in my Dictionary. Yippee

Background music is great too.

I love hearing the accents of locals or N.Y. people. Sounds of home.

Never knew I could get such good seafood platters locally. We went to The Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant. ( I highly recommend the kiddie rides and town for young families.)

Summit, N.J. might be another suggestion for a podcast. Family lived there years ago.

Young Tony Knapp (his father was owner) had a 1966 dark green Mustang and attached a standing chrome horse to the front edge of the hood. We were friends , and about the same age of 28. As a long time employee of the Observer-Tribune, along with my co-workers, made the Fox's Den a favorite watering hole from the late 1960's to the 1980's. I lived in Chester during those years, so we frequented the Black Horse Inn for dinner.

Anthony Knapp turned that place into a gold mine. Incredible the volume of business it did back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. With the Inn, the Pub, and for a long time, the Fox's Den in the basement, it was one of the busiest restaurants in the State. Anthony knew his you-know-what. Unstinting on quality and consistency. When he sold it, the quality, and volume of business, went downhill raapidly. It's the difference between an owner being physically on the property every day, and one who isn't. Knapp was truly an outstanding restaurateur.

Hopefully after the reno, things will get better again.
